the background wasn't really the issue here, the issue was the bright colors against the stragiht black background

If a majority do not like the new theme, then I will just touch up the old one

the site was designed with the old theme in mind at the end of the day. Not much else is going to look good

Black is the absense of color. If you put a bright saturated color right next to it it's going to be an eyesore.

Discord dark theme looks good because it uses warm grays so the bright colors don't pop as much. It's why discord light theme is awful from a design-standpoint
